Hello guys!! Almost done with the 2nd period!
Let me tell you that I did not have
a good experience in this opportunity. I can say that the communication with my
tutor was the problem. However, that does not mean that I blame him for what it
happened. I will share with you the difficulty I had. First, I had prepared
some points of the lesson plan I had. Then, I looked for an extra activity. What
I did not know was that my partner had already taught what I was supposed to
teach that day. Even worse, I did not realize that till I get to the university
minutes before teaching my class. I waited for the teacher and explained to him
what it was happening. He told me that I could developed some pages of the
book. I accepted the challenge; nevertheless, I must say that I was not
comfortable with the class. It was like if I was improvising. I felt that I had
not prepared anything and it was not because I did not work but for any reason
this happened. Plus, the group did not collaborate in my class. I really got
annoyed because of that. I started the class with the activity that was
supposed to be extra. For sure that before, I developed a warm up.
As you can see the class was not developed
the way I expected to do it. I felt everything it was wrong. When giving me
feedback the teacher told me that not everything had been bad at all. The positive
side of this was that I learned that things are not always the way we expect
them to be. It can happen to anybody and we have to be prepared for everything.
I close for this time, and I would
like you to share with me some comments about what you do when people are not
with a good disposition or attitude in the classroom. I have tried some things
and some of them have worked and some others have not. I tried to do my best
but this time I could not do it. I had never faced a situation like this but
still I learned something good from something bad. I hope that you did not have
any difficulty people. Keep calm and teach nice!!
Hey buddy! Such a quazzy experience you got there! I just remember Gustavo's experience.
ReplyDeleteWell, you know...what I used to do was to try to cheer my students as much as possible....is like when someone has a parashute but doesn't have the courage to jump off from the air plane....some times you have to push them off.....but for sure, as human beings we are totally free and when a student says "no" is quite a challenge to blow hi/ her mind.
About the class, I would like to remember teacher Ana Elisa.... "you always have to have a plan B" Maybe you can create a collection of activities that can easily fix in a variety of topics. Nontheless, it is difficult, but with the time you can collect some of them.
At the end of the day what really matters is how you work and I do know that you are a really hardworker teacher. Keep on doing so Chorche!
My best regards.
Hello! George
ReplyDeleteWow, it was a bad experience. However, I consider that you tried to do your best during the class but remember that sometimes it is very difficult to deal with the students. So that's why , as you says "things are not always the way we expect them to be" because all us can have an unexpected situation. Sometimes students participate during the class and sometimes they don't want. So, as teachers we have to look for interesting tasks so that they participate more. Keep on working hard..BLESSINGS!!
Hy George! I see you had some troubles this time, and do not feel bad about it that can happen to anybody, the point is that you somehow could deal with that. About students´attitude, i know it is really annoying when they do not want to participate so ask them to and if they do not want countinue with those who are open to learn and cooperate in the class, some day they will experience what it is like to be in front of a class and not having anyone eager to participate. so let them be!! just remember we have to have good communication with both, our tutors and our partner so that we know where they stopped in the lesson!!
ReplyDeleteHope you do better in the next one guy!!!
Hi!! I could see that that day was not so good for you, but I like your attitude, because you said that you learned and that we have to be always preapared. You know that experience is very important and next time you will know what to do. Try to have a good communication with your tutor and your peer all the time, remember that we have to support each other. Keep on working hard my friend!!!
ReplyDeleteHey george, you really had a difficult situation but maybe you could focus not on what you taught but on what you learned. It´s always good to have an ace up its sleeve ,you never know. Sometimes students perceive when we are in no mood but here is when you have to gather all your strengths.
